Nothing fancy with the deck portion. The lower section was closed in for storage. There are 4&#8243;x4&#8243; &#8216;s in the corners, on the hinge side of the storage door, and one where the fence attaches. Three 2&#8243;x4&#8243; &#8216;s run horizontal (like a regular picket fence), then the 1&#8243;x3&#8243; &#8216;s were nailed on vertically. Base rock was added under the deck. <\/span><br \/><a href=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/_95--iRSGbfI\/SYC4mvczuvI\/AAAAAAAAAPY\/yMYvyCRCRTI\/s1600-h\/DSCF1769.JPG\" rel=\"lightbox[128]\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/lawnandhome.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/01\/DSCF1769.jpg\" border=\"0\"><\/a><br \/><span>The stairs are 4&#8242; wide. The steps didn&#8217;t go down to a concrete pad, so the 4&#8243; x4&#8243; hand rail goes down 30&#8243; in concrete and the side by the wall has a short 4&#8243;x4&#8243; under the tread going into concrete.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is a 6&#8217;x16&#8242; deck that we added on side of this homeowners house.
